Why we built OSRS Combat Calc

We built OSRS Combat Calc to answer one question fast: which skill gets your next combat level soonest?

Most combat calculators show your current combat level and stop. We kept wanting the next step: how many Attack levels, how many Prayer levels or how many Magic levels until the number goes up. Checking that by hand meant writing out the formula for every skill.

So we wrote the formula once, tested it, and put every answer on one page. You enter 7 skill levels and see your combat level, the levels each skill needs for the next combat level and the experience (XP) gap for each route.

Who runs the site

A small team of OSRS players runs OSRS Combat Calc.

We are not Jagex Ltd., and Jagex does not endorse, run or review this website. The site has no user accounts, no paywall and no advertising.

What OSRS Combat Calc includes

OSRS Combat Calc includes 2 main tools, 24 single-purpose calculators and 18 language editions.

• The combat level calculator shows your combat level, combat class and the levels needed in each skill for the next combat level.
• The build planner maps target combat levels, combat-free skill limits, Wilderness player-versus-player (PvP) ranges and saved builds.
• The 24 calculator pages cover single questions, including the Defence calculator, the Prayer XP calculator and the cannon calculator.
• The 18 language editions include English, Spanish, Arabic, Hindi and Japanese.

How we check every result

Every combat level on OSRS Combat Calc comes from the combat formula published on the OSRS Wiki.

• Base = ¼ × (Defence + Hitpoints + ⌊Prayer ÷ 2⌋)
• Melee = 0.325 × (Attack + Strength)
• Ranged / Magic = 0.325 × ⌊1.5 × skill level⌋

The calculator uses whole-number arithmetic, so rounding matches the game at every level boundary. 22 automated tests run before each release. The tests cover new accounts at combat level 3, maxed accounts at combat level 126, Prayer rounding, XP thresholds, target routes and PvP ranges.

What the calculator does not do

OSRS Combat Calc does not predict damage, drop rates, quest requirements or account eligibility.

The calculator reads unboosted levels only: skills from 1 to 99 and Hitpoints from 10 to 99. Potions, prayers and equipment bonuses do not change the combat level result. XP routes start at the beginning of the entered level, so progress inside a level lowers the real amount you need.

How to report a wrong result

Send corrections through the contact page with your 7 skill levels, the result shown and the result you expected.

We read every report and fix confirmed errors in the next release. Never send a password, login token or payment details.
